New
Readers/Listeners/Viewers
|
|

|
|
I
was able to introduce myself and my books to a number of bookstores
and libraries, as well as viewers of local television news programs,
listeners to local radio stations, and readers of at least three
local papers. All this publicity has spurred an interest in my latest
novel, Wolf's Rite, which is seeing orders come in across the U.S.
I've had the opportunity to work with
the local television station here in Port Townsend, and was
interviewed by Eve Rosenbloom for her program, "Off the
Grid". I've taken clips from these events and put them on my
site. So, if you want to know what I think about writing, meditation,
or growing up on the East Coast, take a look or listen.

A Reader's
Response
|
|

|
|
"Wolf's
Rite is an engaging story, taking the reader through a classic tale
of how a man is redeemed through change. Persun uses the American
Indian practice of vision quest as the deux es machina for his
character, and presents the details of the central character's
journey with detail and sensitivity. The questions that Llewellyn
asks of himself echo our own - why should I change? what should I be understanding
from the world around me? and most importantly, what do I do with the
lessons and changes that have occurred?
"The book serves as a reminder
that, at the core of each of us, there needs to be an awareness and
respect for the natural world, because our greatest strength as
individuals are firmly rooted there."

Thanks Again...

...to
everyone, for participating in these events and for accepting my work
with such open arms. I promise to write my best for you.

"The Applicant" Featured
in NW Anthology
|
|

|
|
My short story
"The Applicant" was recently published in an anthology
called Scent of Cedars. Several of the authors included in the
anthology recently read at Seattle's best-known bookstore. Allen
Sanders introduced the anthology and readers as follows:
"Thank you to the Elliott Bay
Book Company for giving us the opportunity to do this group reading.
We appreciate Elliott Bay's long history of support and encouragement
for Northwest writers.
Several years ago, Bradd Hopkins of
Russell Dean Publishing came across a poem entitled, Mommy's Little
Pathological Liar. It was written by a 14-year old girl from
Wenatchee - Kelsey Rodgers. He was so impressed, he wanted to publish
it. He wanted to encourage her to keep writing.
Then he decided to look for other
promising writers who lived in the Pacific Northwest, or who had
written about the Northwest. He put out a call for submissions and,
with Anne Schroeder as editor, selected the works of 32 authors.
Their mission was not to collect the works of renowned writers but to
showcase and encourage writers they believed displayed talent and
promise. The result is the anthology of poems, short stories, and
essays, called Scent of Cedars"
